Emily has been in the food industry for over 15 years, starting out as a chef after studying at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. Here she developed a passion for a sustainable and holistic approach to food production and consumption, which has carried on through to buying jobs at The House of Bruar, sourcing local Scottish produce, The Savoy hotel, and most recently at Whole Foods Market.
As Grocery Buyer for Whole Foods’ 9 UK stores from 2015 to 2018, Emily looked after the Ambient Grocery department, Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Crisps & Snacks, Loose/Bulk Ingredients, Private Label and Homewares departments. She managed seasonal ranging and developed exciting campaigns to drive sales growth in store, working closely with marketing and store operations.
As a freelance consultant, Emily is using this experience to support brands and retailers, offering insight into the buyer’s mind. Her flexible practice has helped clients ranging from start-ups to multi-billion euro corporations, from coffee to hummus, ice cream to nut butters and more. She also runs workshops and speaks at events such as Bread & Jam and Food Matters Live.
